Who We Are
GMAC Financial Services includes automotive financing, commercial finance, insurance and mortgage products, and real estate services. We have a presence in more than 40 markets around the world and have been a wholly owned subsidiary of General Motors since 1919.
Financing Operations
Core to GMAC's business is its financing operations, consisting of North American Operations (NAO) auto financing, International Operations (IO) auto financing and GMAC Commercial Finance.
North American Operations (NAO)
The cornerstone of GMAC's automotive finance business, GMAC NAO extends automotive financing services to franchised GM dealers and their customers in the U.S. and Canada. These include dealer wholesale financing, dealer loans and remarketing opportunities, as well as traditional retail consumer financing, nonprime financing, SmartLease, SmartBuy and special programs.
International Operations (IO)
With operations in 37 markets in Europe, Latin America and Asia-Pacific, GMAC IO offers wholesale and retail automotive financing products to Opel, Vauxhall, Holden, Saab, Daewoo, Cadillac and Chevrolet dealers. IO's wide range of products - tailored to address local market preferences and national requirements - includes full-service leasing and fleet management, as well as strategic alliances to provide private-label financing to companies such as Suzuki and Subaru.
GMAC Commercial Finance
A leader in its segment of the financial services market, GMAC Commercial Finance serves a wide variety of middle-market clients in diverse industries. With loan facilities from $2 million up to $500 million, GMAC Commercial Finance is positioned to provide lending services worldwide, with locations in the United States, Canada, Europe and Hong Kong. The company's expertise is offered through specialized divisions: Asset-Based Lending- North America, Commercial Services-North America, Equipment Finance, Structured Finance and United Kingdom Operations.
GMAC Insurance Operations
MIC Group / Personal Lines Group
GMAC Insurance is divided into two major divisions: The MIC Group and the Personal Lines Group. MIC encompasses a number of businesses, including automotive extended-service and maintenance contracts sold through GM dealers in the U.S. and Canada, and similar products for the non-GM market. GMAC Insurance's International Operations fall under MIC and provide extended-service contracts, auto insurance and other coverages through numerous distribution channels. GMAC RE, also under MIC, offers dealer inventory insurance and property/casualty reinsurance programs. The Personal Lines Group offers vehicle and home insurance through a number of distribution channels, including independent agents, affinity groups and the Internet.
